Doula Support - CD (DONA)

Currently accepting repeat clients and referrals.

It is recommended to call as soon as possible for availability around your "due range".

I have experience supporting women unconditionally with a variety of birthing desires and outcomes.   My professional experience includes VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and I have accompanied mothers and families in both hospital and home birth settings.  As a doula, I listen deeply to what each mother wants for her birth so that I can support her and her family through their personal journey.  I can be thought of as her "best friend" for labor and birth, as I hold space for her with unconditional acceptance.

Women have always supported each other in labor.  Today, fathers and partners usually want to be involved, but may not know what to do and are understandably uncomfortable when the women they love are in pain.  Even partners who have taken prenatal classes often appreciate having an experienced woman to share in labor support responsibilities, while offering gentle guidance and reassurance.  I enjoy supporting partners to participate at their desired comfort level to enhance their ability to uniquely love and care for the mother.  With doula support, mothers and partners are better able to cope with the intensity of labor and stay present for their baby's birth.

Birth is a sacred rite of passage.  A mother and her family are forever transformed by their experience.

Mothers are often called to bring their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual resources to the process of giving birth.

An empowering birth can inspire a mother with confidence throughout her life.

Mothers receiving gentle, nurturing support through labor and birth can share with their new babies from a place of abundance.

Peace begins with birth.

Mothers with doula support have increased satisfaction with the birth, with baby and family/partner, greater self-esteem, and breastfeeding success.

It is well-documented that mothers with doulas have less need for various types medical support, including medication.  Through having continuous support, mothers are better able to stay focused on their coping skills.

My fee includes two prenatal visits, attending your labor and birth, and one postpartum visit. One-half of the fee is due upon hiring me to hold your due date on my calendar. I offer a free initial consultation to determine if we are a good match. I believe in "a doula for every woman who wants one" and will gladly offer referrals when requested.

I also offer a discount on Birthing From Within childbirth classes for my doula clients.

Choosing your doula is personal and it's important that you and your partner are comfortable with the doula you select.  Please call to schedule a free consultation.  I have relationships with other doulas for "back-up", and when possible, I will invite a trusted colleague to meet with you also.

Hiring a doula is an investment in your well-being...what could be more important?

"If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it."

"Asking your husband to be your sole guide through labor is like asking him to lead the way on a climb of Mt. Everest.  He may be smart and trustworthy, you may love him, but in the Himalayas you'd both be a lot better off with a Sherpa!"

~ Pam England

"It is important to keep in mind that our bodies must work pretty well, or there wouldn't be so many humans on the planet."
