About Karen

Karen Hart Asbury is a Certified Mentor with BIRTHING FROM WITHIN®, an Extra-ordinary childbirth preparation program. Karen is a Reiki Master & Teacher of the Usui Reiki system of natural healing. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Linfield College and is certified as a Whole Person Design Coach from Baraka Institute. Certified as a Birth Doula with DONA International, she completed her Labor Support training at Seattle Midwifery School.

Her continuing education includes attending the 2007 REACHE Conference in Edmonds, WA and the Gentle Birth World Congress in Portland, OR the same year. In 2008, she attended Waterbirth International's Waterbirth Credentialing Workshop and PDX Doulas Birth Professionalism & Collaboration.

My husband Paul and I have two wonderful daughters, Danielle "Dani" and Zoë. Giving birth to each of my children were very different experiences, fostering within me a compassion, and passion, for the transformative power of birth.
