About Karen

My Intention:

Awakening Wisdom serves to strengthen within individuals exactly what they need in order to fulfill their highest potential and enjoy their life’s journey.  Through meaningful connection and self-discovery, the inner knowing that each individual possesses can be gently and powerfully brought to light.

Birth can be one of the most transformative rites-of-passage and it is a special honor to support families in making their baby’s birth the best experience possible for them.

My Personal Journey:

It is my own journey that has truly inspired me to mentor and doula birthing families.  My husband and I were not adequately prepared for our first experience of giving birth, and yet the next time with better preparation and additional support, I got to realize my true strength! I now know the power of being in the present moment -- taking one contraction, and one breath at a time. And I know that our birth stories, like the other stories we tell ourselves, do not define who were are.

I am grateful for both of my children and the very different journeys of bringing them into the world.  I also learn greater patience and love by being their mother.

"And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
